Page County has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Madison County Mountaineers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Page County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 377th, while Madison County is ranked 153rd).
Page County suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Strasburg by a score of 47-45. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Page County in their matchups with Strasburg: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Madison County had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 49-38 victory over Clarke County.
The match pitted two dominant players against one another in Billy Acton and Moses Day. Acton had a great game and scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Meanwhile, Day did his best for the losing side, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Page County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Madison County, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Page County came up short against Madison County in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 61-50. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Acton, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds.
