After two games on the road, Lawrence is heading back home. They will take on the Olathe North Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lawrence was handed a 41-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Olathe Northwest on Friday. Lawrence had just enough and edged Olathe Northwest out 41-38. The victory was just what Lawrence needed coming off of a 69-28 defeat in their prior game.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Olathe North's strategy against Shawnee Mission North on Friday. Olathe North was the clear victor by a 49-26 margin over Shawnee Mission North. Olathe North pushed the score to 43-21 by the end of the third, a deficit Shawnee Mission North had little chance of recovering from.
Olathe North can attribute much of their success to Allie Workman, who scored nine points along with four steals, and Asia Lee, who scored 19 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lee has scored at least a third of Olathe North's points. Lailah Simmons was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds.
Lawrence's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Olathe North, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9.
Lawrence barely slipped by Olathe North in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 32-31. Will Lawrence repeat their success, or does Olathe North have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
