It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the St. James Academy Thunder ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They managed a 65-59 victory over Washburn Rural. The victory was just what St. James Academy needed coming off of a 59-37 loss in their prior contest.
Washburn Rural's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kaden Ballard, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Hoytal, who scored 9 points along with 4 steals.
The win got St. James Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Washburn Rural, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Shawnee Mission East the next time they take the court. St. James Academy will head out to face Shawnee Mission East at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Washburn Rural will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
