Spanish Fort is on an 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Baldwin County is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Spanish Fort Toros will challenge the Baldwin County Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Spanish Fort 1.9, Baldwin County 1.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Spanish Fort is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: North Bay Haven Academy, who was ranked fifth in their home state at the time (Spanish Fort was ranked ninth). Spanish Fort never let North Bay Haven Academy get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory on Friday.
Madison Griffith and Haley Hart did most of the damage at the plate: Griffith scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3, while Hart went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Griffith has posted since back in February.
Meanwhile, Baldwin County posted their closest win since February 22nd on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Saraland 2-0.
Not much got past Madilyn Byrd, who gave up just two hits to keep Saraland off the board. Byrd has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Baldwin County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke McGowin, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Baldwin County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. Spanish Fort's victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Spanish Fort hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Baldwin County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Spanish Fort came out on top in a nail-biter against Baldwin County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Will Spanish Fort repeat their success, or does Baldwin County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
