After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Michael, the Grand Canyon Phantoms were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They slipped by Ash Fork 44-43. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Grand Canyon also won the last time the pair played on January 9th.
Grand Canyon can attribute much of their success to Xochitl Galvan, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Galvan has scored at least a third of Grand Canyon's points. Another player making a difference was Jaemie Jensen, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and eight steals.
Ash Fork lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gracie Staples, who scored seven points.
Grand Canyon's win bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Ash Fork, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-18.
Grand Canyon will head out on the road to face off against Fredonia at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ash Fork, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Williams at 5:30 p.m.
