California City waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Kern Valley Broncs 89-51. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 88-64 back in January.
California City got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cassius 'Hollywood' Brown out in front who shot 4-for-7 from long range and almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. Brown's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was DeShawn 'Pocket Magic' Elizalde, who posted 19 points and eight steals.
California City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Kern Valley's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zane Carver, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Carver is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Galvan, who had 16 points and three blocks.
California City pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.3 points over those games. As for Kern Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.
As of now, neither California City nor Kern Valley have any future games scheduled.
