Lake Norman Charter was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to West Rowan. Lake Norman Charter has not had much luck with West Rowan recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Lake Norman Charter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jay Morgan. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Mcconneyhead, who scored 13 points.
West Rowan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Holmes, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Kayvone Norman, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Lake Norman Charter's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-9. As for West Rowan, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Norman Charter will face off against East Rowan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Allowing an average of 52.1 points per game, East Rowan has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this matchup. As for West Rowan, they will head out on the road to challenge South Rowan at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. South Rowan comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
