Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairhope). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 65-30 win over the Maclay Marauders. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 86th in Alabama, while the Marauders are ranked 311th in Florida), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Maclay lost, don't look at Lauren Guyer. Despite the final result, she went 8 of 16 on her way to 21 points and three steals. Guyer has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Fairhope, bringing their record for this year to 8-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Maclay, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.

Fairhope wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 57-54 defeat against Rutherford on the 28th. As for Maclay, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-19 loss against Pinson Valley on the 28th.
