The Tracy Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Lincoln Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tracy will be looking to extend their current 16-game winning streak.
While Tracy's win against Lodi wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over the Flames on Monday. Give the Bulldogs' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Elisa Galli looked comfortable as she pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ava Crivello was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln). They put the hurt on West with a sharp 18-6 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won ten games by eight runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Alicia Ott, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Romero, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They are 7-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Tracy pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season.
Lincoln's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Tracy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lincoln, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Tracy keep running through batters, or will the Trojans buck the trend?
Everything went Tracy's way against Lincoln when the teams last played on April 10th, as Tracy made off with an 11-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
