The Lyons Lions will take on the Marist RedHawks in a tournament on Wednesday. Marist took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Lyons, who comes in off a win.
While Lyons' win against Oak Park-River Forest wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Huskies on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since April 24th.

Tucker King spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lou Ratcliffe was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Brother Rice hit Marist with a six-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The RedHawks lost 9-2 to the Crusaders. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the RedHawks couldn't push the score so high this time.
Collin Lawlor was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had over his last three games.
On the hitting side, Marist saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Pass, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Marist's loss dropped their record down to 19-13. As for Lyons, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 20-9.
Lyons beat Marist 7-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the RedHawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
