The St. John's Mavericks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Kinkaid Falcons at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in St. John's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 17 games.
Last Tuesday, St. John's didn't have too much trouble with the Raiders at home as they won 70-52. Given St. John's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Raiders are ranked 462nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Malachi Booker and Sebastian Williams-adams were among the main playmakers for St. John's as the former scored 13 points along with three steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Colin Callahan was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Kinkaid had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against The Awty International on Tuesday and snuck past 44-41. The win was just what Kinkaid needed coming off of a 68-42 loss in their prior contest.
St. John's has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. As for Kinkaid, their victory bumped their record up to 5-20.
St. John's strolled past the Falcons when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 67-51. Will St. John's repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
