The Clover Hill Cavaliers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 50-30 loss at the hands of Trinity Episcopal. Clover Hill lost against Trinity Episcopal in their previous head to head back in December of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 74-43 score last time.
Despite the loss, Clover Hill saw an underclassman step up: Deja Raines scored ten points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Elam, who scored nine points.
Clover Hill has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Trinity Episcopal, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Clover Hill and Varina will face off at 9:00 a.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Trinity Episcopal, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Saint John Paul the Great Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Saint John Paul the Great Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 last Wednesday.
