Ezekiel Academy relied on the efforts of Samiya Ballard, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds, and Addi Newell, who had eight points along with six boards and three steals. Newell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Victory Christian Academy on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Varsity Opponent out of the water with a 43-15 final score. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 24 points or more this season.
Ezekiel Academy better focus on containing Brooklyn Durden and Cate Sayer as the pair were huge in Victory Christian Academy's win. Durden earned 16 points, while Sayer scored eight points and four steals. That's the most steals Sayer has posted since back in November of 2024. Anne Montgomery was another key player, putting up three points and three steals.
Victory Christian Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.0 points per game. As for Ezekiel Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Ezekiel Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Victory Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Ezekiel Academy against Victory Christian Academy when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 57-26 victory. Will Ezekiel Academy repeat their success, or does Victory Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
