The Southeast Halifax Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southeast Halifax is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
Southeast Halifax suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 81-49 loss at the hands of Wilson Prep. Southeast Halifax has not had much luck with Wilson Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Defeat or not, Southeast Halifax got some senior leadership from Travis Johnson Jr. and Trayvese Silver. Johnson Jr. dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Silver. dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Silver pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrone Williams Jr., who scored six points along with 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mount Prep pushed their score all the way to 71 last Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Tarboro 75-71.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Qualique Jones, who scored 19 points. Rashyd Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Southeast Halifax has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season. As for Rocky Mount Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Southeast Halifax hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 60.4 points per game. However, it's not like Rocky Mount Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 60.1 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Everything came up roses for Southeast Halifax against Rocky Mount Prep in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 84-52 win.
