The Minneola Wildcats struggled with assists on Saturday (the LaCrosse Leopards had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Minneola had to suffer through a rough 85-30 loss at the hands of LaCrosse. While losing is never fun, Minneola can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while LaCrosse is ranked fifth).
Minneola lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tyson Klotz, who scored seven points. Another player making a difference was Levi Lang, who scored ten points.
LaCrosse found their leader in underclassman Lee Holopirek, who went 12 for 17 from beyond the arc en route to 36 points and 3 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Morgan, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Minneola's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for LaCrosse, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Minneola and South Gray will face off at 8:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. South Gray has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 224 points over their last three contests. LaCrosse and Dighton will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Dighton will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
