The Argonaut Mustangs struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Sonora Wildcats had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Argonaut took a hard 56-41 fall against Sonora. Argonaut has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Argonaut's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mitchell Mcmahan, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds, and Ryan Duran who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 36.6% of Argonaut's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Jonathan Curran continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sonora, scoring 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Curran has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Roger Edwards, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Argonaut bumped their record down to 9-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Sonora, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season.
Argonaut will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Summerville at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th. As for Sonora, they will be playing at home against Calaveras at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Calaveras focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
