Basketball Recap: Garfield Skates Past Champion with Ease

Garfield's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Champion Golden Flashes 79-52. The G-Men have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 23 points or more this season.

Garfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Preston Gedeon, who went 10-for-21 on his way to 24 points. Another player making a difference was Cade Rock, who went 6-for-7 to rack up 15 points and six rebounds.

Garfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Champion only racked up nine assists.

Champion's loss came despite strong showings from Braylen Braham and Christian Williams. Braham dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards, while Williams went 5-for-12 en route to 15 points. That's the most points Braham has posted since back in December of 2024.

Garfield is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points over those games. As for Champion, they dropped their record down to 5-17 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garfield will host Windham at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Garfield is facing Windham at the right time seeing as Windham is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Champion, they will take on Berkshire in a tournament on Wednesday.
