The Woodsboro Eagles won the last time they faced the Falls City Beavers, and things went their way on Friday too. Woodsboro narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Falls City 49-46.
Jordan Zena was the offensive standout of the matchup as he scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Garcia, who scored six points.
Several Beavers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dale Shaffer, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Shaffer scored a full 45.7% of Falls City's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kain Jurgajtis was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds.
Woodsboro's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Falls City, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Woodsboro won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Taft at 1:00 p.m. on December 16th. Taft knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Woodsboro likes a good challenge. Falls City will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Floresville at 11:30 a.m. on December 16th. Floresville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Falls City in Texas (Floresville is ranked 461st, while Falls City is ranked 1462nd).
