The Armstrong River Hawks lost against the Fox Chapel Foxes back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Armstrong took a 50-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fox Chapel. Armstrong has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Armstrong's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Riggle, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Riggle's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Szep, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Will Siegel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fox Chapel, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. Ike Moser was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Armstrong bumped their record down to 8-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Fox Chapel, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Armstrong will take on Shaler Area at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Shaler Area presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Armstrong in Pennsylvania (Shaler Area is ranked 15th, while Armstrong is ranked 160th). As for Fox Chapel, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Woodland Hills at 7:00 p.m. Woodland Hills has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
