The North Brunswick Scorpions struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Tuesday (the Laney Buccaneers were 32% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. North Brunswick lost to Laney on the road by a decisive 58-40 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points North Brunswick has scored all season.
Despite the loss, North Brunswick still got an impressive performance from Malakhi Daniels, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Daniels is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Mosley, who scored eight points.
North Brunswick struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Joshua Helms continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Laney, scoring 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Helms has scored all season. Alan Studebaker was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
North Brunswick's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Laney, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home.
North Brunswick will head out on the road to challenge South Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Brunswick is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. Laney won't have much time to rest: their next match is against New Hanover at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. New Hanover is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
