The Castlewood Warriors have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They walked away with a 54-44 win over Oldham-Ramona/R on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Castlewood, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Castlewood can attribute much of their success to Presley Knecht, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Knecht continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Wittnebel, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Castlewood's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Oldham-Ramona/R, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Castlewood won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pipestone at 9:30 a.m. on January 20th. Pipestone will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 329th in Minnesota, while Castlewood is ranked 95th in South Dakota). Oldham-Ramona/R won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Aberdeen Christian at 11:00 a.m. on January 20th. Aberdeen Christian is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
