Baseball Recap: Snake River Comes Up Short

Snake River came into this matchup off a tough 26-run defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the South Fremont Cougars by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Justin Wray was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Snake River's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for South Fremont, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Snake River will square off against Sugar-Salem at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Snake River's pitchers better be ready for this one: Sugar-Salem has averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season. As for South Fremont, they will challenge Marsh Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Marsh Valley will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something South Fremont surely won't give up without a fight.
