Basketball Recap: Carson Wheat Key Part of a Team Effort in Dragons Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clarksville, Redwater was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Detroit Eagles as the Redwater Dragons made off with a 69-46 win. For the Dragons, this counts as revenge for the 68-66 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2019.

Redwater got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carson Wheat out in front who went 7 for 11 on his way to 17 points and four steals. That's the most steals Wheat has posted since back in February of 2024. Cason Leavitt was another key player, putting up 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Redwater is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Detroit, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Coincidentally, Redwater and Detroit will both be playing Farmersville the next time they take the court. Redwater will head out to face Farmersville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Detroit will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
