The Pine Ridge Panthers fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Yellow Jackets by a score of 46-44. Pine Ridge lost against St. Augustine in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 68-59 score last time.
Pine Ridge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Laird, who scored 14 points. Laird scored a full 31.8% of Pine Ridge's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Jackson, who scored 10 points along with 9 rebounds.
Pine Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for St. Augustine, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Pine Ridge will head out on the road to face off against Deltona at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Augustine, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bartram Trail at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
