South Newton let Brayden Tesky and Thomas Applegate run wild. Tesky went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double, while Applegate went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Applegate a new career-high. Myles Wittenborn also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Delphi Community sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Maconaquah on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Oracles have won by just one run.
Levi Coghill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double.
Coghill wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Noah Hutsell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
Delphi Community hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maconaquah struck out 12 times.
South Newton's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Delphi Community, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Newton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. However, it's not like Delphi Community struggles in that department as they've averaged .486. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Newton might still be hurting after the 16-2 loss they got from Delphi Community in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Rebels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
