The Thales Academy Apex Titans came tearing into Tuesday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 61-24 victory over Neuse Christian Academy. Thales Academy Apex has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 24 points or more this season.
Thales Academy Apex's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anna Maass led the charge by scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Maass has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenna Sproul, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Morgan Little, who scored ten points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Ella Grace Johnson, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Thales Academy Apex pushed their record up to 18-4 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Neuse Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thales Academy Apex will take on the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Thales Academy Rolesville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 499th, while the Titans are ranked 186th). Neuse Christian Academy is on the road again on Thursday and plays the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on February 1st.
