Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Marion County sidestepped Red Bank for a 5-4 win. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Eli Yell was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Thacker, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025.
Marion County's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Boyd-Buchanan, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2-1.
Marion County's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Boyd-Buchanan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Marion County, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Boyd-Buchanan keep running through batters, or will the Warriors buck the trend?
