Softball Recap: Notus Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Notus's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Horseshoe Bend Mustangs. Considering the Pirates have won four contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Emalee Thomas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Cierra Norris was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Kiah McAmis was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Notus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Horseshoe Bend only managed four hits.

Notus' win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-3. As for Horseshoe Bend, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Notus wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 11-9 defeat against Garden Valley on the 11th. As for Horseshoe Bend, they have also already played their next game, an 18-16 loss against Greenleaf Friends Academy on the 11th.
