Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Lakewood

Lakewood waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Valley Forge Patriots 14-4. Considering the Rangers have won six games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella Bower was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lakewood let Madison Comer and Emily Gillick run wild. Comer went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Gillick went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most hits Gillick has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Boland, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Lakewood's record now sits at 9-3. As for Valley Forge, they dropped their record down to 0-15 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lakewood will challenge rival Buckeye at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Valley Forge is set to face off against their familiar foe Normandy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
