The Bard Falcons had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. It was close, but on Tuesdaythey capped 2023 with a 42-39 win over DC International. The win was just what Bard needed coming off of a 54-27 defeat in their prior matchup.
Bard got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was LaMardre Anderson-Ward out in front who scored 13 points along with three steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Kaemon McNeil, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
DC International's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Mason, who scored 15 points. The contest was Mason's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Damani Gross was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Bard's win bumped their record up to 2-10. As for DC International, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bard will square off against Woodson at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (Woodson is ranked 29th, while Bard is ranked 32nd). As for DC International, they will head out on the road to face off against Dunbar at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dunbar is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57 points per game.
