Softball Recap: Wilson Area Has No Trouble Against Notre Dame

Wilson Area had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 33-run drubbing they dealt Notre Dame on Wednesday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 33-0 margin over the Spartans. Considering the Warriors have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Tessa Fredericks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Fredericks was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with six RBI, three runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Schmitt, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Dalpe, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Wilson Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .875. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Wilson Area has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Notre Dame, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilson Area will host Salisbury Township at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Notre Dame, they will be playing at home against Pocono Mountain West at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
