Montgomery is 0-3 against Vintage since April of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Crushers at 11:00 a.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last three times Montgomery and St. Vincent de Paul have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 15-1 win. With that victory, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.
Greyson Gariss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryder Dienhart, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Chace Russell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Montgomery always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Vincent de Paul only posted an OBP of .241.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vintage). Everything went their way against American Canyon on Thursday as they made off with a 13-2 win. The Crushers haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Soren DeYoung looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, John Bullock was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Vintage's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Riley Marek, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple.
Vintage now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Montgomery, they now also have a winning record of 6-5.
Montgomery might still be hurting after the 10-4 defeat they got from Vintage when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
