Block Island lost against the Central Knights back in January of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Block Island fell just short of Central by a score of 27-25. Block Island has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Block Island lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Haley Conant, who scored six points along with 13 rebounds and six blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Cora Ryan, who scored four points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Block Island now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Central, their win ended a 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Block Island's road trip will continue as they head out to face Davies Career & Tech at 3:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for Central, they will challenge Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Johnston is ranked 24th, while Central is ranked 48th).
