Danville and Cascade are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Warriors will challenge the Cadets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Danville is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
Danville will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Tri-West Hendricks, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Warriors were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Bruins on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Jacob Irving, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Aiden Chiodo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Danville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Cascade came out on top against Greencastle on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Cadets walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Tiger Cubs.
Cort Hubner looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jackson Abernathy was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Kemp, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Danville's record now sits at 11-9. As for Cascade, their record is now 11-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Danville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cascade struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Danville might still be hurting after the 20-8 defeat they got from Cascade in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
