The Raymond Central Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Wilber-Clatonia 51-24. While losing is never fun, Raymond Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Wilber-Clatonia is ranked 89th).
When it comes to explaining why Raymond Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dawson Potter. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Potter has scored all season.
Leading Wilber-Clatonia to victory were Grant Kuhlmann and Carter Skleba. Kuhlmann scored 13 points along with eight rebounds, while Skleba scored 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kuhlmann has scored at least 25% of Wilber-Clatonia's points. Another player making a difference was Aiden Zajicek, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Raymond Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Wilber-Clatonia, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Raymond Central will take on Syracuse at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Wilber-Clatonia, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Superior at 5:00 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Superior focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
