The Duluth Wildcats entered their tilt with the Meadowcreek Mustangs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Duluth came out on top against Meadowcreek by a score of 29-21 on Friday. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Duluth was the (much) better team in the second half.
Duluth's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amari Degraffenried, who rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Craig Killings, who rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Danirion Moxey, who rushed for 87 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for 112 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Sevon Smith, who picked up 91 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Duluth has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Meadowcreek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.
Duluth will head out on the road to face off against Peachtree Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Peachtree Ridge is on a four-game streak of home wins, Duluth a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Meadowcreek will take on Berkmar at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
