After flying high against the Cristo Rey Jesuit Cristeros last Friday, the Northtown Pumas came back down to earth. Northtown had to suffer through a rough 67-34 loss at the hands of Lake View. While losing is never fun, Northtown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 697th, while Lake View is ranked 348th).
Lake View's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Loza led the charge by scoring 16 points. Another player making a difference was Ian Duhn, who scored 11 points along with two blocks.
Northtown has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Lake View, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5.
Northtown will take on Ida Crown Jewish Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake View, they will head out on the road to take on Westinghouse at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westinghouse knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Lake View likes a good challenge.
