The Swain County Maroon Devils were the 45-32 winner over the Hayesville Yellowjackets when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Swain County received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 43-29 to Hayesville. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Swain County has scored all season.
Hayesville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Shook, who scored 14 points along with five assists and three steals. Shook is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Peck, who scored ten points.
Swain County now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Hayesville, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2.
Swain County will head out on the road to face off against Murphy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hayesville will be home for the holidays to greet Cherokee at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cherokee is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
