The Roger Bacon Spartans will take on the Reading Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Reading took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Roger Bacon, who comes in off a win.
Roger Bacon barely beat Walnut Hills the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 12-2 win on Tuesday. The matchup marked the Spartans' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Eli Questa tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.
At the plate, De'Vion Gipson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Max DeFranco, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Roger Bacon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Reading might've scored the first runs on Friday, but it was Madeira who claimed the real prize. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Mustangs and Amazons by a score of 3-2. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jackson Thamann was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season. Carter Reed was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Roger Bacon pushed their record up to 3-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Reading, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-6.
Roger Bacon beat Reading 3-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
