Mayfield extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They came up short against the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs, falling 14-5. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
Landon Conyne put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Conyne was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Cubby Roth (C) made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Roth (C) is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Elliot Henry was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for Berne-Knox-Westerlo, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-6-1. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Like Mayfield, Berne-Knox-Westerlo also got a great game from a two-way player: Henry Ferguson. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Ferguson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, GG Lefkatditis and Chris Dwyer did most of the damage at the plate: Lefkatditis went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Dwyer went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, Dwyer is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Merrick Damin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mayfield will take on rival Duanesburg at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Berne-Knox-Westerlo is set to challenge their familiar foe Middleburgh at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
