It was a good run, but the West Milford Highlanders unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 44-37 to Kennedy. If West Milford hoped to take revenge for the 54-37 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Despite the loss, West Milford still got an impressive performance from Avery Vacca, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Laurel Space, who scored three points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
My'Shayla Clancy was her usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and three steals for Kennedy. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Clancy has scored at least a third of Kennedy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Perla Reyes, who scored eight points along with three steals.
West Milford's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Kennedy, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Milford will take on Lakeland Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kennedy, they will head out on the road to square off against Bergen Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bergen Tech is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
