Royal has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Oak Park Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Two weeks ago, Royal was the victim of a rough 33-13 defeat at the hands of Agoura. While losing is never fun, Royal can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 607th, while Agoura is ranked 208th).
Meanwhile, Oak Park's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Newbury Park 38-0. Oak Park was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Royal's defeat was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.5 points per game. As for Oak Park, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Royal might still be hurting after the 24-0 loss they got from Oak Park when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Royal, Rowan Heidt (who rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
