Last Friday, Laguna Creek really took it to Vista del Lago for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-34 win on the road. With Laguna Creek ahead 42-12 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Laguna Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Michael Mcbride, who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Flenory, who scored 8 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Elk Grove's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They lost to Davis on the road by a decisive 53-35 margin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Elk Grove came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 384th, while Davis is ranked 1031st).
The losses dropped Laguna Creek to 5-1 and Vista del Lago to 4-6.
Laguna Creek suffered a grim 76-51 defeat to Elk Grove when the teams last played back in May of 2021. Can Laguna Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
