Softball Recap: Pike Liberal Arts Wins Going Away Against Luverne

Pike Liberal Arts won the last time they faced Luverne and things went their way on Thursday too. The Patriots put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 14-7 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

Mary Holland Stephens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Camryn Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Sarah Strickland also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Pike Liberal Arts' record is now 8-9. As for Luverne, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6-1 record this season.

Pike Liberal Arts will venture away from home to challenge Lee-Scott Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Luverne, they will host Zion Chapel at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
