The Maricopa Rams will head out on the road to take on the Vista Grande Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Maricopa will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Maricopa not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28, 2024. They put the hurt on Flowing Wells with a sharp 10-4 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Rams as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Travis Varela made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Maricopa is 4-1 when Varela allows three or fewer earned runs, but 3-12 otherwise. Varela was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).
In other pitching news, Grayson Bunte looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Patrick Pettis and Jovanny Sanchez did most of the damage at the plate: Pettis went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run, while Sanchez scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Sanchez a new career-high in doubles (two). Will Hawkins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
Maricopa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Vista Grande was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell 6-1 to Catalina Foothills.
Vista Grande saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Montiel, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Montiel launched this season.
Maricopa's record is now 7-13. As for Vista Grande, they now have a losing record of 9-10-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Maricopa has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Vista Grande struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Maricopa couldn't quite finish off Vista Grande when the teams last played back in March of 2018 and fell 3-1. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
