Las Cruces (N.M.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
J.j Granados ran for a touchdown with with 4:00 remaining in the second quarter, bringing the team to victory over
Eldorado (Albuquerque, N.M.) 55-28.
The Bulldawgs were up 27-21 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Granados in the second quarter.
Las Cruces expanded its lead to 20 points entering the fourth quarter. LC scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by
Jonathan Joy to Granados.
The Bulldawgs secured its victory by scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter to push the final margin to 27.
Zach Gentry made a difference for the Eagles. The sophomore quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to nine on the year.
Las Cruces' most effective player was Joy. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns and ran for one touchdown.
The defeat comes as a step back for Eldorado, which notched a 21-7 victory over La Cueva in its previous outing.
In its next matchup Eldorado (7-6) will take on Las Cruces in a playoff game. The Bulldawgs enter the contest having posted a 10-1.
