The John Marshall Monarchs were the 57-37 winner over the Indian Creek Redskins when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. John Marshall took a 63-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Indian Creek on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as John Marshall came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 29th in West Virginia, while Indian Creek is ranked 111th in Ohio).
It was another big night for McKenna Scott, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 assists for Indian Creek. Scott hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Kylie Anderson was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
John Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Indian Creek, their victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3.
John Marshall will face off against Oak Glen at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Indian Creek, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cambridge at 7:00 p.m. on February 21st.
