The Nucla Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. The match between Nucla and Dove Creek wasn't particularly close, with Nucla falling 52-35. That's two games in a row now that Nucla has lost by exactly 17 points.
Nucla lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lantry Galley, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Kendra McCluer, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Nucla's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Dove Creek, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Coincidentally, Nucla and Dove Creek will both be playing Ridgway the next time they take the court. Nucla will host Ridgway at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Dove Creek will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
