When it comes to explaining why Verdugo Hills lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alexander Martinez. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with eight rebounds. Martinez is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of William Gharabekyan, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Verdugo Hills and nudges their season record down to 12-10. As for Poly, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-14.
Verdugo Hills will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Arleta at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for Poly, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grant at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Grant presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Poly in California (Grant is ranked 262nd, while Poly is ranked 680th).
