Delta is a perfect 8-0 against Muncie Central since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. Delta is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
While Delta's victory against Alexandria-Monroe wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Tigers 4-2. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.
Kye Berger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Eli Overholt was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Muncie Central made sure to put some runs up on the board against Marion on Saturday. The Bearcats came out on top against the Giants by a score of 14-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Bearcats not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 22-0).
The team relied heavily on Parker Shelley, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Muncie Central is 3-1 when Shelley posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mason Ferguson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Muncie Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Delta's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Muncie Central, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 3-13.
Everything went Delta's way against Muncie Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Delta made off with a 23-2 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bearcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
